Ode To My Friends
by Lorene Green

Many friends in life, I've met
On this thing we call the, "Internet".
likened unto bridges, we connect.

Words from our keyboards do fly,
faster than an eagle in the sky.
From my address book I see the names,
Have in my life made. never the same.

My fist was a friend named "Bill "
Looking toward the yonder hill.
Always wishing elsewhere to be.
A computer nerd once was he,

A business tycoon in suits he dressed,
But freedom he sought from city stress.
Blue jeans and cowboy hats,
was the life he was best at!

How he longed for days of yore,
as around camp fires stories were told.
He packed up his horse ,saddle & gear,
left it all behind without nary a tear.

The longing for which his heart had cried,
The wilderness mountains no longer denied.
But now he's gone , from my view

To a place, I know not where too!
Maybe a place beyond the blue.
Slipped in my life, and out again,
like a shadow from the rain.

Here comes Marion with spouse in tow
called him Tom, Man, what a fine bow.
From Florida's fair land ,traveling to see,
West Virginia,

Wild and wonderful, Country Roads, and "Me"
So many likeness in our life we shared.
Maybe we were from the same pair?

From our kitchens, Oh so neat,
To our hanging towels on the sink.
The cows through out the house,
We must be sisters, there's no Doubt.

WinterBirds and Chickadee's are birds of a feather.
She is the one , and I am the other.
These are our "Nics" so to speak.
But we feel, we are quite unique.

The world outside she brought to me,
That thought her eyes I might see.
With tales of travel from east to west,
North and south, they get no rest,

They go in summer from Florida's heat.
To a place that none can beat.
The camping grounds is the place to go,
Where the Pennsylvania 's cool breezes blow.

Then there's my good friend Ollie
now that gals an hoot an holler
soft as butter and sweeter still
never a dull moment where she mills

The loss of Her sight is more than a fear,
To my weary eyes brings the tears,
The pain of my friend I can discern.
Not too worry says she, it's not your concern.

If I could but do it, my sight I would impart,
To help a dear friend close to my heart.
I love you and God dose too!
Someday you'll have new eyes,
made just for you!

An Now We come to Bob Who loves the California heat.
A friend in deed, Can't be beat,
Loves to tease me without a doubt,
But never a closer friend have I found.

I never saw it before or bothered to notice,
But now I see, an on it I am focused.
A heart of kindness he dose ensue.
caring for the ones that are like "Sue"

Tender mercy he dose impart,
To all those of faint of heart.
A family that is headed by Bob & Dory
Closer than family I could not order.

Shared their kindness with no reserve,
Helping the abused, to be, NOT unnerved.
Upon our heart your footprints are made.

When I think of you,
I think of no other,
Than a friend that is close as a brother.

Fried tators and coke is his delight.
Makes me shudder of his plight,
Your insides are no doubt,
like the shavings from a medal pipe.

Strange as it seems, each one of you.
have taken my being beyond my own view
fun and games, tears and laughter
I love you all, from here and ever after.
