Mourning / Grief

Soldier
by Michael Casile

I’m invisible… I can walk through walls
Walk slowly down the halls…
Yell until I'm blue
No one sees at all…
No one has a clue
Or catch me when I fall
I’m invisible… to you

I’m invisible… I can cry out loud
Barge right through a crowd
Beg you with my eyes
Crawl along the ground
Change my own disguise
While everyone’s around
I’m invisible… to you

I’m invisible... I lay next to my gun
While dirt blows in my face
And black smoke hides the sun
I no longer have to chase
I no longer have to run
And you will not see me
Until this war is won.
