Mourning / Grief

Critter
by Stephanie Hodge

I loved you in so many ways
In ways I tried to show
You touched my life so dearly
I just thought you should know

It seems as if you are still here
I wait for you to walk through the door
I know that you'll always be with me
Because I feel, I hear, I see you more and more

Remember the times I would tease you
About your smiling face
It was all in fun and good nature
Because of your indefinable grace

You changed so many people's lives
People that knew you
You were loved so much by everyone
I wish you only knew

You made such a huge impact on everyone's lives
I think that everyone can agree
You helped people look inside themselves
To be brave and strong and free

I know in time things will be okay
For I know that you and God are with me
Make me strong, make me bold,
Give me bravery

The pain's so strong, it makes me weak
As I think about your loss
I know in time I will grow strong
But now I bear that cross

You're still here and will always be
I will never accept the change
When I sit down to think about it
It all just seems so strange

Strange that God would take one's life
Especially form everyone
But in time I'll realize
That your work on earth was done

Your smile was so contagious
You brightened everyone's day
Thank you for everything that you've done
I know that's what people would say

Remember the times you looked at me
And asked me what was on my mind?
I wasn't confused, I wasn't scared
It's just the words were hard to find

Your smile was so radiant
So beautiful and so true
Only you could shine so bright
I'm so blessed to have known you

You lived life without regrets
Without doubts and without stress
You made the world a better place
You're the best and nothing less

Why you had to leave?
I guess I'll never know
I don't think I'll ever know why
But through this I shall grow

You helped me find what's true in life
The things that really matter
Like the special friends and family
That brings you all the joy and all the laughter

I feel your presence surround me
And I know you're always here
For I know you'll make things right
In you I'll have no fear

You will always hold a deep place in my heart
Not just in my heart, but in my soul
You helped me look to find myself
You were what made me whole

You turned my bad days into good
I know tat was your goal
You didn't have to try so hard
It was your beautiful soul

Shining down on me from heaven
You guide me with your light
Telling me things are okay
And that I should stop this fight

The battle's already won
For you're in a better place
I am weak, but will grow strong
And with me I'll hold your grace
