Mourning / Grief

A Mother Cries
by Don Lewis

Wide seas wave their last good-byes
While on homeland a mother cries
Low but deep as mountain highs
With lengthened pain through shortened sighs
Their love felt hate blinds fear filled eyes
The days are weeks as months go by
Yet lost found tears still never dry
Then war-deafened ears hear battle cries
That across wide seas another dies
While on homeland a mother cries
