Love and Romance

For Joel Illescas...My Life
by Marjorie D. Illescas

After the lovers savored love
The man lies and shuts his eyes
And every time he falls asleep
The woman whispers in his ears:

If I should die today my love
I'd be the happiest woman who'd ever lived.
For in your arms, I'd felt the warmth
No summer breeze could ever give.

And then the woman shuts her eyes
Slowing drifting before she cries
With lips curved in sweet a smile
She sleeps and holds him as they lie.

When she's asleep, the man awakes
For in deep slumber he has heard
The words softly whispered in his ears
So in reply he utters back:

I hope you wont die today my love
Not now when we're young and crazy with each other...
And hopefully never...coz if you do...
Oh God, I'll be the saddest man alive...
