Daddy Ain't Com'n Home
by Don Lewis

Mama don't put your best dress on
'cause daddy ain't coming home
He's down at the local bar
and he ain't there alone
He's got him a little girl friend
she's hanging on his arm
And he's spending his last dollar
just pouring on the charm
He told you he'd be working late
knowing you would never call
He ain't been working late
some days he ain't there at all
People say they've seen 'em
a laughing and a carrying on
So mama don't put your best dress on
'cause daddy ain't coming home
You can do what you want mama
you could stay up and cry all night
Or you could hunt him down
go in and start a fight
You could claw her eyes out mama
but she ain't the one to blame
Or you could walk in with a new man
hit him back with his own game
You could change the locks, mama
and never let daddy back in
Then you could get you a lawyer
and take everything from him
You could make him pay mama
for the way he's done you wrong
But mama don't put your best dress on
'cause daddy ain't coming home
Mama don't put your best dress on
'cause daddy ain't coming home
He's down at the local bar
and he ain't there alone
He's got him a little girl friend
she's a hanging on his arm
And he's spending his last dollar
just pouring on the charm
