Love and Romance

As It Went On
by Cassie Evans

When I met you,
I thought it was true.
But as it went on,
I knew you'd be gone.

I made a mistake,
In my heart I drove a stake.
I can't believe I trusted you,
I thought I knew.

You told me that I was the only one,
But if the number was pounds it would all weigh a ton.
You were special to me ,
Couldn't you see.

You told me lies,
And all you heard were sighs.
I didn't believe you right from the start,
I gave you my life and you tore it apart.

I wanted it to be more than that,
But you just covered me with a mat.
But as it went on,
I knew you'd be gone.
