Life and Time

You Were Supposed To Be
by Nieves White

You were supposed to be my family,
You were supposed to be my friend.
You were supposed to be there for me,
but now it's too late, it's the end.
I gave you chances,
why couldn't you give me some?
I gave you chances,
but you didn't give me not one.
I wanted to love you.
I wanted to be in your life,
but you didn't even want that.
You didn't even think twice!
I wanted you to get to know me.
I didn't think that was asking too much.
I just wanted to make up for the lost years,
I wanted us to keep in touch.
You didn't have to give me much.
A small little relationship,
would have been enough,
but I guess that was asking
way too much from you.
I just wanted you to treat me as your daughter,
but you...
you couldn't even be a father!
