Vision
by
Kelli Reed

She stood there with her pen in hand
The paper in the other
She looked at where the mirror stands
and stared at the sight before her.

She gazed at the figure inside it
almost began to cry
How come the mirror should show the truth
but all she saw was lies?

She looked into the auburn eyes,
but all she saw was black
How come she saw the raven walls
that always stared right back?

The mirror always showed true beauty
that others could discover,
but yet when she looked into it
she was not like the others.

She saw the golden walls behind
that lived inside the mirror,
but yet when she did turn around
they weren't as they appeared.

She wished to find vision's beauty
by going to where it starts.
She decided to use the standing mirror
to bring peace to her heart.

She envied every grain of sand
that made the beach its home
for the ocean swept it far away
for anyplace to roam.

She was angry at every flame that burned
for it turned water to steam.
It made to air it's only home
with destination unseen.

She was jealous of every fallen leaf
that wrapped up in the wind
for as it went up into the sky.
It would never come down again.

She always looked at the girl inside
who lived in a wonderful place,
but whenever she saw a smile.
It always was erased.

The mirror was the ocean the flame
and especially the wind
for when the girl did leave the mirror
she never came back again.

She let go of all her rueful pain
and fell into the wind.
She floated away to higher heights
and never looked back again.

With her floated, her paper
the mirror show the envision
“True beauty may lie within,
but freedom is true vision”
