Life and Time

 

To Look Where I Have Been
by James Brown

I'm just trying to figure out if I'm in or out
and what's really on my mind
careful not to let important things
wander out of sight

time always moving fast
so many things they come and pass
I used to think how wise I am
but how little did I know

so many things have fallen now
far far from my grasp
now I will never know
how precious where the pearls I cast

a sense of loss expensive cost
that weighs the heavy toll
lessons learned so deep they burn
like a brand upon my soul

what's done is done
now the time has come to walk a wiser mile
it's what I do I'll pull on thru
and smooth on with a smile
