Sea Monster
by Don Lewis

It’s so drastically devastating
So much, that it’s so hard to tell
Is it the power of Mother Nature?
Or a dooms day gift from hell?
When the seas and skies combine
Their strengths in force with each
Fueling themselves within themselves
While broadening out their reach
As like told in old childhood stories
Of a one eyed monster from the sea
That can sweep you up and eat you
While there’s no where you can flee
The high waves, as they rip inland
Like the monster flicking its tongue
So quick to extend and retract again
As it’s taken its prey when it’s done
While the gusting winds level structures
Just like the monsters flinging arms
It travels its path searching for us
Through beaches, cities and farms
There's no knight in shinning armor
That will ride up on his horse
And fight off this one eyed monster
We’re just left to let it take its course
There will be again as has been before
Other monsters to come from the sea
I only hope that we are better prepared
To rescue the ones who are unable to flee
