Life and Time

On the Bank
by Patricia Fritsche

Such driven speed,
a gelantined resourcefulness,
anger beveled North or South
temperament going East or West.

Stillness captured
at ninety degree angle,
the intensity to keep it going in its circulation,

as all things need to break off, occasional,
from the rush,
the incessant charge of a penetrated direction.

Finding the right margin
in one’s particular life to feel grounded and secure

for the picture
to gain its full worth in presentation.

If that’s the way,
you want your horizon to be masoned upon,
with bricks of mud and straw
and a strong perseverance.

Or the much body-building
substance of self-discipline
of a rock Quarry legend
even more of a challenge now,

to build upon
with the gravity of its weight.
