My Portrait
by Jolen Casper

Artist paint a portrait of me
Capture me with your oils
Stun with brilliant perception
True colors of soul's toil

Show how lovely I once was
I'll bring whatever you need
Can you see the joys I had
The ones now taking seed

Brush away deepest flaws
Take me on a trip in time
A place I'll never be old
And love is forever mine

I know this is much to ask
An awful lot to require
Of one who paints portraits
And available for hire

Well imagine my elation
As he said he'd try his best
Couldn't wait to see his view
I donned my nicest dress

Arriving for my first sitting
I told him he'd earn his wage
He said my portrait was done
And he gave me a blank page
