The Monster
by Shobhit Gupta

A chill runs through my spine
gnawing my innate self
intimidating shafts of reflection,
hidden beneath the mattress, was 'he'
now out to scare me.

frail, bawling eyes
tired, trembling voice
chickened out of the race
stands alone, forlorn

love, beauty and life
that roomed in his capacious heart
are clogged with dust
journey curtailed,
after a billion rough hours

beware, who could this monster be?
intimidating shafts of reflection,
hidden beneath the mattress, was 'he'
now out to scare me
