Life and Time

I Thought
by Rebekah Powell

Everyone I thought I knew
Turned their back and went askew
Loving moments, were they true
Darkness covered their hypocritric cue

Hearts they tore and love they told
But only lies is what they sold
I only wish that I had known
Before I saw your heart was stone

For Trust is never quite what it seems
when dark covers the light where it deems
Wishing I knew who you were
before you drained me with your spur

Never again will I steep
Thinking it twas mine to keep.
