Fata Morgana
by
Mona-Lisa Larsen

Is there no more to you than this?
Would you only show me I was right
the days I let wrong be wrong,
and held the future to be true?

Was what I saw only a Fata Morgana?
Something I wished for so hard,
my soul made it seem real.

Did the sun shine too bright,
making my eyes go blind
or the soft, endless sand dunes
causing me to believe in eternity?

Perhaps I enjoyed too much
the few raindrops on my tongue
to understand it will never rain.
