Country Singer's Soul
by Don Lewis

There are songs about the future
Songs about the past
Songs about forever
And loves that never last
Songs about the soldiers
Who are fighting in the war
Songs that tell the reasons
Of what they’re fighting for
There are songs about lost loved ones
And the sorrow that it brings
No one sings these songs
The way a country singer sings
There are songs of how it was
While growing as a child
Songs of teenage years
That got a little wild
Songs about the good times
Yea songs about the bad
Songs of how a broken heart
Can make a mind go mad
Songs of some one cheating
While wearing wedding rings
No one sings these songs
The way a country singer sings
There are songs about old pickup trucks
Buses, cars and trains
Songs about lost highways
Mountains, hills and plains
Songs about the country roads
City streets and Broadway nights
Songs about old honkytonks
Ridding bulls and bar room fights
Songs about the moonlight
Fallen stars and angel wings
No one sings these songs
The way a country singer sings
Country singers sing of life
As it’s lived out everyday
The words they sing may touch you
In your own kind of way
As they hit the high notes
Or they bring it down so low
You’ll feel it sang about you
From that country singers soul
