My Too Long Country Song
by
Ivar Kalleberg

Today I will work on My new country song
Since it has seven verses It is way too long
I aim to write short But I usually flop
When I start writing songs I just cannot stop
I will not leave out Verse one and verse two
First verse was so funny The second one too

I would like to write here A very good hook
They told me to do so In the songwriter’s book

Verse three had some good jokes Almost all in good taste
To skip such a verse Would be quite a waste
Maybe I could take out My verse number four
But it is so unlike All I’ve written before
Then comes verse five It is so full of love
I wrote it with help From the angels above

A good country chorus Would I like to write now
But I do have a problem I do not know how

I think that verse six It will have to stay
It dealt with my wife Who is now turning gay
My verse number seven Is the best of them all
Whenever I sing it We all have a ball
So my efforts tonight Have all been in vain
To throw out good verses Would have left me in pain

Since I never did write Verse eight and verse nine
I can end my song here With this twenty-fourth line
