My Life As A Chicken
by Rachel Powell

First day of my life,
was stuck in a nest,
Although rather warm,
'Twas hard to take rest.

For Poor mother chicken,
Felt compelled to hatch me.
But Stuffy and squished,
I so want to be free!

At time I hatched open,
and what a surprise!
Two legs at the bottom,
and the top-- two black eyes!

And soon I got fat,
bigger than friend Cow,
Then one awful day,
they said "We want you now!"

Why to eat me for dinner,
Those nasty old humans!
I wish I were thinner,
for my sake, to fool them!

And right then I cried,
for they wanted me fried!
