I Promise

I promise not to scream or pout.
I promise to try and understand
And if I can't I'll count to ten.
I promise not to throw a fit
No matter how crazy things may get.
I promise to hold my breath
And not say things I might regret.
I promise to be good to all
Short or tall, big or small.
I promise to take care of things
Schools and sitters, bites and stings.
I promise to keep the household running
No time for fun, no time for sunning.
I promise to teach the way of life
