The Homecoming
by
Ivar Kalleberg

Hoof and mouth disease has ravaged
Milking cows have passed away
Flocks of sheep who were infected
Lost their lives here yesterday
On this little cozy farmstead
Seven miles from Santa Fe
Mommy's heart is filled with sorrow
'Cause their only son is gay
Poor old dad is sad and lonely
Not too happy with his fate
He is longing for a grandchild
Will his son not find a mate ?
Suddenly the peace is broken
One can hear an unknown sound
Could it be their wayward first born
Who at last is homeward bound ?
Could it be some evil forces
Who will burn all churches down ?
Or some hoodlums selling moonshine
On their way to nearest town ?
Yes the young man is returning
With a very pregnant wife
He has parted from his old ways
And is starting a new life
Mom and dad are very happy
God has changed their precious son  -  Hallelujah !
He will walk the strait and narrow
All his  gay desires are gone

If you travel to the South Pole
Or where ever you may roam
Don't forget your mom and daddy
Or your childhood's precious home
