'Twas June in the year of 1910,
that Father's Day was conceived.
Sonora Dodd did honor her father
and started this it's believed.
Even President Calvin Coolidge
in 1924 supported this occasion.
That fathers should have their day
it didn't take much persuasion.
Then 1966 President Lyndon Johnson
went and signed the proclamation.
That the 3rd Sunday of every June
would be Fathers Day in our Nation.
Fathers and children celebrate
and sometimes games they'll play.
Sonora would be proud to know
that now all fathers have their day. |
