The Rough Ride West
by Bernard Howe

As the wagon starts to roll
we all sit back and rest.
Because the work will begin
once we get out west.

The roads are rocky
the ruts are mighty deep.
Some of the mountain passes
are really very steep.

Moving west to find our home
is not something that is fun.
And many people wished
this all could be undone.

Omaha seems a long way off
as we have traveled far.
At least we have our music
which we play on our guitar.

And we don't see man people
as this west is mighty bare.
Its not like going to town
and shopping at the square.

Ah yes this here wilderness
that's made from milk and honey.
Not only was it hard on us
it cost a lot of money.
