I’m broke I’m lonesome My old car is rusting My mom passed away yesterday My grandma is dying My auntie sells moonshine My son has found out he is gay My sister‘s been knocked up The father is unknown Her doctor has said she’ll have twins My ex-wife has sued me She thinks I have money I can’t pay a dime if she wins
My new wife has left me My dad is on welfare My brother was sentenced and jailed The spring flood has ravaged The drought came here later My wheat crop and corn harvest failed My cat ate rat poison My dog has distemper My cattle has mad cow disease My VCR broke down And so did my TV My landlord has cancelled my lease
My daughter smokes hashish Her boyfriend sells candy Very seldom she comes home at night My horse has been stolen My outhouse was burnt down My prospects are not very bright BUT !! I still have my own teeth I’ve no signs of balding My health is as good as can be I’ll pick up my banjo And move down to Nashville And settle in lush Tennessee
I’ll sing at Ole Opry I’ll publish some records And maybe I’ll soon be a star I’ll buy me Porsche I’ll build me a mansion With jacuzzi, a pool and a bar I’ll throw garden parties With Dolly and Kenny And many of my Nashville friends But should my plans flop My world will not stop My future is still in God’s hands |
