My Leprechauns
by
Pearlie Duncan Walker

One starry night as I was looking for his route,
I saw the cutest little leprechaun darting about.
He knew I was watching; he knew I was his friend.
Because I believe in him, he'll come by again.

Every so often, he'll go streaking through the sky,
Once blew me a kiss, as he was passing by.
He's a magical little elf, who looks like an old man.
He whispers to me, tells me they're a whole big clan.

O`er the cliffs, full of mischief, just standing there.
Thinking of some magical trick to play, I'd swear.
Hoping no one will know, he soars high to the sky,
Watching for the other leprechauns to soon come by.

He knows on him, I wont tell and he knows just why.
Because I know he's real; I watch him, up in the sky.
Streaking all about, the glittering stars being his guide.
Makes me want to hang on, catch a little ride.

He's so cute, and magical, one day I may have to try,
To softly touch him, rub on some magic as he passes by.
If the story of the leprechaun's true, that's oft been told,
Who knows, I might end up with a big crock of gold.
