There is a pulse in my veins your blood and mine mingled together coursing through two bodies bonded from before time. I held you in my arms, cradled you in the shadow of my smile, fed you what I had eaten. You tasted everything that I tasted. Drank everything that I drank. I felt your feet pushing against my ribs. You were molded from my bone, pared from my flesh.
You are far away now. Living in another state, grown into a uniform; yet still connected, still mine. Your breath ever on my heart, the beat of your heart pulsing out my favorite tune. You are never out of my sight nor far from my mind. For you are the pulse in my veins, the blood of my blood, the son whom I bore. Nothing can ever separate us. No, not even the grim tide of war. There is a God far greater that cradles us both in His Hand. |
