My Memories
by Lorene Green

There's a place I like to travel,
A place I like to roam.
To my old country mountain home.
To a place of childhood visions,
I can go there in all the seasons.
There My daddy I can see,
In the early morning light is he.
Going at a steady pace,
Worry lines upon his face.
So much to do in a day,
Milk the cows, mow the hay.
Till the ground, plant the seeds,
Hoe the corn, cut the weeds.
From the Lord, blessings he did seek
As he lived his life so very meek.
Hat in hand, on bended knee,
Beneath the shady apple trees
Lord I have done all know
But only you can make it grow.
My momma's scent I still can smell.
of laundry soap, I know so well
cooking cleaning all the day
a mothers love she did display
A smile so warm, the angels frown
Love shown to all, was unbound
Never a stranger, she did meet,
A glass of water, something to eat
A helping hand she did extend
She gave to all with out reserve
mattered not if they deserved
Her life was never a waste
She lived her life, to give God praise
Eleven babies she gave birth.
Three she lost to Mother earth
Their lifeless bodies she did impart
Gave then up with broken heart,
Life goes on, so dose the pain
Her loss now, is heaven's gain
At last the day is done,
With the setting of the sun.
Sitting in their rocking chairs,
Resting in the evening air.
Looking out on starlight night,
Rest their weary spirits, from daily strife.
Looking toward the far off hills.
Hear the song of the lonely whippoorwill!
Now they both are gone
To God above , a better home
The tears I cry from loneliness
Their face to see, my only wish.
Someday his I voice will hear
of my savior, Oh so dear
And join them there around the throne.
With the robes of white, we'll all have on.
We all will join, the songs of praise
through eternity, for all our days!
All my memories, are not told
In a book, it Would not hold.
A little look back at my past!
Seems my life when so fast
Come again and you will find
other memories of another time!
