Memories
by Bernard Howe

Yes... I remember, I remember
those days from long ago.
Old victrolas and television
how'd they set my heart aglow.

Warm evenings on the front porch
with neighbors stopping by.
Popcorn and candy apples
'tis where my heartstrings lie.

Saturday matinees I remember
Hoot Gibson and old Tom Mix.
Gene Autry and Gabby Hayes
gave us kids our weekly kicks.

April showers brought summer flowers
and lazy days idly spent.
Country roads with open fields
all green with clover scent.

Under the spreading trees
and picnics in the park.
Basket dinners on the ground
these memories left there mark.

There's much joy in remembering
those happy days of yore.
With friends from my childhood
that my memory had me store.

Yes ...I remember, I remember
these memories will never part.
Those dear old days of long ago
are the touchstones to my heart.
