Granddad
by Bernard Howe

Granddad makes me laugh so much
that sometimes my sides begin to hurt.
When we get done playing hard
he always gives me some dessert.

I think Granddad is my best friend
cause we always have a lot of fun.
He lets me ride him like a horse
he'll kick, and buck and run.

Granddad likes to take me fishing
and he lets me hold the pole.
Mom gets scared that I'm to wild
and really hard for him to control.

But really Granddad is just like me
and he seems to make mom mad.
I think he has a good time too
while he always calls me lad.

When I break something nice
Granddad can fix it back.
And he won't let anyone
give me a big ol' whack.

I try so hard to make him happy
so we can laugh some more.
I love my Granddad just as much
as when I was only four.
