Garage Sale
by Don Lewis

Taking things out of the cabinets
Pulling things from under the bed
Getting things down from the attic
And even from the back yard shed

Making tables out of plywood
And anything that we can find
We’ve got a big piece of cardboard
And we’re making us up a sign

We’re gonna have a garage sale
Getting rid of our old stuff
All the clothes that we don’t wear
And things we don’t use that much

My wife went through the kitchen
To find what she could sell
She’s cleaned out all the closets
And all the drawers as well

We’ve told other family members
To bring stuff if they wanted too
Just make sure the price is on it
And it’s gone when the sale is through

We’ve got us a big roll of plastic
Just in case it should start to rain
We once said after our last sale
That “we’ll never do this again”

Now here it is one year later
Where did this stuff come from?
How have we accumulated?
Enough to have another one

The add has been put in the paper
It ends on noon Saturday
All of our stuff left over
We’re giving it all away

I hope we make lots of money
On the first two days this time
Because come Saturday morning
Everything goes for a dime

We’ll give away what’s left over
Start tearing the tables down
Go remove all of our signs
That we plastered all over town

We’re going to the gambling boat
With the money we take in
And we’ll say it one more time
“We’ll never do this again”
