Friendship or Gold
by Von E. Weeks

If you could chose friendship or gold what would it be,
Gold can buy so many things of worth and beauty,

You could by a wonderful house on the top of a hill,
A shinny car, a fancy wardrobe, or a grommet meal.

Friendship will provide you the heart of another,
A friend will listen and love like you were a brother,

Friends will give you far more than they should,
They will pick you up when no one else would.

True friends, are an eternal treasure of infinite worth,
They are more valuable than all of the gold on earth.

If you count even one person as a friend that’s true.
Honor, respect, and keep them whatever you do!

As problems and troubles are dropped at your door,
It will be these friends, who lift you from the floor.

Gold will come, and go, in and out of all of our lives,
Friendship protects our heart like razor sharp knifes.

Most of us will never have much treasure, wealth, or gold,
But, the good deeds of a friend will magnify a hundred fold.

God bless you my dear friend, as our paths begin to veer,
Your leaving will cause me to be lonely, and shed a tear.

Today I refuse to say goodbye, but: “until we meet again”,
As we reunite, we’ll say, it’s wonderful to be with you friend.
