Childhood Memories
by Don Lewis

Childhood memories that I hold
Of a dusty gravel road
Winding down to an old iron bridge

Where dad and I would go
To our favorite fish'n hole
Those are times that I love as a kid

But now the road it has been paved
A modern bridge has been made
The big creek I remember seems so small

Oh the times they sure have changed
Nothing ever stays the same
Except those childhood memories that I recall

I 'd watch my mom’s gentle hands
Place the dough onto the pans
As she'd bake cookies for family and friends

I'd help her hang out the clothes
On wires between two poles
Ah! How they smelt from dry'n in the winds

You don't know what I would give
For just one chance to relive
The loving times our family had when I was small

Oh the times they sure have changed
Nothing ever stays the same
Except those childhood memories that I recall

My first bike was a hand-me down
But one Christmas morn’ I found
A shinny new one right there 'side our tree

And there were other things of course
I not sure how they could afford
But they made it a special time for me

Mom and dad they have passed on
I'm sure heaven's where they've gone
But their love for me guides me through it all

Oh the times they sure have changed
Nothing ever stays the same
Except those childhood memories that I recall
