Bring Him Home
by Dawn Ward

Something that pumps the adrenaline higher
He loves being a firefighter
Every time I hear the alarm
My heart drops fear of harm
My hopes and dreams up in flames
God, How would I handle the pain?
To lose the love of my life
Would cut deep as a knife
I sit and wonder," tonight a hero?"
Or my hero's time to go?
To have him taken from me
Because he so much believed
To put his life in front of another
Whether it be a friend or a brother
No matter what the call
He gives his best and gives it all
'Please watch over him tonight
Another fight, another fire, or another cry
Whatever it may be
Just bring him back home to me.
