THE MYSTERY
by James A. Brandes

There never was a palace,
A crown, a robe, a throne
Men seldom do remember
Really there was no home

Yet HIS door was always open
He had an understanding Heart
With LOVE that was so perfect
It set HIM far apart

This Shepherd with just HIS staff
No Scepter in HIS hand
Yet all elements of life
Answered to HIS command

HIS flock was never many
A hand full just a few
But HE said HE would return
And HE told them what to do

HIS words of perfect WISDOM
Began to spread around
For some it’s given NEW LIFE
And for them HE has a crown

The greatest King I know
The Crown of Life can give
While the only Crown HE knew
Wasn’t really HIS

But few seem to know THE MYSTERY
In the crown of thorns and staff
They thought they did HIM in
And HIS teachings wouldn’t last

LOVE, TRUTH, & WISDOM,
Only the KING OF KINGS controls
The kings on earth cannot destroy
HIS redemptive plans for souls

Someday THE KING IS COMING
But few shall know HIM so
Unless they understand THE MYSTERY
Of this shepherd long ago!
