"You won't want to put it down... Mere Chance is one of those books that once you start, you
won't want to do anything but find out what happens next. This is a GREAT American story..."

Quest For Thy Glimpse
by Riaz Raja

Rocks I had cracked apart; dunes I didst explore,
The present and chronicles, all measures of yore!
Into flowers and the redolence that swept around,
My vehement passions were to Thy quest bound!

I searched Thee in the winning melodies of quails,
In the morn’ breeze, dew drops and wafting gales,
In alpenglow, unruffled moon and twinkling stars,
I coursed from earth to skies and beyond the Mars.

On the uncharted oceans and into desolate vales,
Grieved in the labyrinth amidst moans and wails,
In caves and crevices till my wisdom had turned
Insanity and lo in the blaze of Thy love I burned.

To mosques and synagogues I were swiftly caught,
To the temples and churches I was hastily brought!
I looked for Thee around, in every nook and corner,
Mystery enshrouded ambiguity; I darted a mourner!

My soul blossomed and fledged my blazing desire,
I bartered my universe and befell the ardent buyer,
Thou pervade one and all but why always mystic?
Omniscient and the Wisest, ever uniquely artistic!

Ecstatic amidst rustle and bustle I played my lire,
Enchanted and charmed leaped my emotion’s fire,
Blinded with Thy Refulgence I watched the sight,
Bit by bit I had sublimed my goblet with its light.

My spirit turned a dragon and consumed my sleep,
I wept my eyes out and steeped my heart that deep,
Ripping my heart at Thy altar; a barter I had made,
With my tears precious as pearls I had dearly paid.

In the mirror of eternity I watched Thy Splendor,
Flustered in effulgence I made a humble surrender,
Now within me then beside me I watched the rain,
Dust bathed with gush of largesse and I was slain!

Temporality hurled against eternity I was ashamed,
Engaged slyly in the furtive scuffle I had reclaimed
My self wherein I watched the spectacle once more,
Tranquility was bequeathed and the eternity I wore!
