A Parent's Prayer
by
Elena Ramirez

Oh, my Lord,
My God, my Saviour,
I come to your throne
And entreat you with a favor.

Lord, deliver, please, my children
From the hands of the enemy.
Guide them and set them free.
Let them see your love so clearly.

They walk in darkness,
Without an objective for success;
With bitterness, idleness,
Foulness, and rudeness...

So very thoughtless and thankless.
As you see, and are a witness...
Oh, Lord, my children are in a mess.

They seem so misguided
Even though, as a family,
They have been provided
With blessings and so much more.

They take for granted
What we have done
No longer this, can I condone...

These terrorizing rebels...
The pressure, is causing
Our home to unravel...
It is not a home, but a place of hell.

Oh, Lord, where have I gone wrong?
I tried to be strong.
But, I can see, clearly, the fault is with me.

Though, I knew, I did not speak
That which is true.
The gospel, of you...

For, I did not teach them your ways.
I did not teach them to pray.
I did not show them how to find their way
By searching for you in the word, every day.

I did not teach them to love,
Placing honor to you, high above.

Oh, Lord, I repent, of my sins
But, pray, as I start and begin,
Let my children go free
To be all that they can be.

I ask this, Oh Lord, and pray,
Please bless...
As you forgive my foolishness,

That it is not to late...
Though, I did wait,
Let it not seal their fate.

Give me the boldness
To take away the coldness,
The darkness, in our home;
So they can go on...

Living life with you, free to be,
Oh, Lord, all they can be.
I ask this, in your son, Lord, Jesus.
For, you sent him for us.

Will you come, Holy Spirit, and live with us?
As we make Jesus,
Our main focus...

It must begin with me, as a parent;
For, it is obvious and transparent.
An answer has been sent.

I thank you, Lord, God, Almighty
For showing me, as a parent
Committed also to you,
I can show them what to do.

For, now, I am free
As I give this to thee ...
Seeking your wisdom daily.
For my children,
My family...
