The Mighty Galaxies
by Pearlie Duncan Walker

God put in the Heavens a brilliant array of moon and stars.
He put the cloudless sky that reflects these ways of ours.

Like a mirror, we look to Heaven and see galaxies
Made for our light and the beauty of doth surely please.

Looking at the oceans and seas surrounding every land
Makes us stop and look into the mirror of Jesus’ scarred hand.
Rivers reflect the trees, the flowers so full of grace,
And, if we look closely and intently, it mirrors, too, our face.

Are we of God? Do we break His heart in two with greed?
Do we love and respect each other, truly, in deed?

I want to walk with Him and when I see the reflection
Of my face, I do not want it to be a great deception.

I want to see the Glory of God's image look back at me
As I look into friends eyes or the sky and into the sea.

How can we love Him and not light our candle from He,
Who put all the galaxies in place for you and for me?

Though secular friends turn from me, I will try to pray
For the forgiveness I need, in each and every day.

To love them anyway ~ maybe they will come to see
That we examine our faces in each and every galaxy.

We will behold, as in a glass, the Glory of God's own will,
Light our lamps daily; always staying in the light, still.

For, He’s coming soon. I want to be ready to say,
"Lord, take me, with You, to my Heavenly home to stay."
