Jesus Will Then Love You Even More
by
Ivar Kalleberg

You may have a tragic fate
Or some problems with your weight
Perhaps you haven’t got a job or home
You may have a foul disease
Be in debt up to your knees
You may be short and ugly like a gnome
If you lost a limb or two
You have reasons to feel blue
Maybe your mom-in-law has come to stay
If your marriage seems to fail
If your brother goes to jail
If you believe your only son is gay

Then remember – God has told you – Don’t despair
If you’re bothered by too much to bear
If you’re plagued by sufferings galore
Jesus will then love you even more

If some hoodlums stole your car
Thank your God that you still are
Safe and sound while riding in a train
If your health will soon decay
‘Cause you smoke a lot each day
The good Lord brings you comfort in your pain
If your ticker is worn out
If your joints are full of gout
If earthquakes crushed your garden and your house
If you lose your teeth and hair
And have tumors here and there
And if your best friend came and stole your spouse

Then remember – God has told you – Don’t despair
If you’re bothered by too much to bear
If you’re plagued by sufferings galore
Jesus will then love you even more
