Have A Little Faith
by Von E. Weeks

One summer’s day as a young lad,
I was feeling disappointed and sad,
Gently my mother offered me a knee,
She inquired what was troubling me.
Life’s just not fair, I said with a sigh,
Please Mom, can you tell me why?
She looked at me with a loving smile,
Then she gently hugged me for a while.
As her loving arms surrounded me,
I started to feel better about humanity.

She said, have a little faith in God above.
Have a little faith in the power of love.
Have a little faith things will be okay,
The sun always burns the clouds away.
Have a little faith that God has a plan,
Have a little faith that he cares for man.
Growth in life comes during a storm,
We can not always be cozy and warm,
Hardship and sorrow will pass away,
No sorrow or pain is here to stay.
Trust in God and you’ll come to know,
He’ll always guide your eternal soul.

Some years latter as a broken hatred teen,
I had some problems that were unforeseen.
My girlfriend suddenly broke up with me,
This altered what I felt my life should be.
She was the axis my world revolved around,
Her love held my heart completely bound.
I earnestly wanted the heartache to end,
I tearfully confessed to a caring friend.
Then my mother’s words came back to me,
They seemed to release my soul from agony,

I said, have a little faith in God above.

As I earnestly followed her creed life was good,
It seemed things started going like they should.
I found a lady, to whom I could give my love,
Blessings started pouring down from above.
The mercies of God were beyond compare,
The hardships I faced were extremely rare,
Seasons passed our family continued grow,
At times the winds of adversity would blow.
Many of those that I love most were taken away.
Sometimes I was at a loss, at what to do or say.

I thought, have a little faith in God above.

With passing years my health started to fade.
Age and time require that a price be paid.
Daily torrents of pain brought tears to my eye.
The doctors tested trying to find the reason why,
I could see the sorrow in the eyes of my wife,
My sickness was the biggest trials of her life.
Her compassionate love was completely true.
She was at a complete loss at what to do.
Smiling at her I held her very, very tight,
I earnestly prayed for God to send me insight.

I whispered, have a little faith in God above.
Have a little faith in the power of our love.
Have a little faith things will be okay,
The sun always burns the clouds away.
Have a little faith that God has a plan,
Have a little faith that he cares for man.
Our growth in life comes during a storm,
We can not always be cozy and warm,
This hardship and sorrow will pass away,
Even this sorrow and pain isn’t here to stay.
If you trust in God you’ll come to know,
He’ll always guide your eternal soul.

Our embrace soothed our souls for a while,
But my life was reaching the end of the dial.
I could feel my spirit being drawn to God,
I knew soon I would be walking heavens sod.
Then my spirit returned to the realm above,
I felt an overwhelming since of joy and love,
Despite this joy I felt lowly and contrite,
To see my eternal creator in all his might.
I started to worry about each of my flaws,
Suddenly Christ beckoned me to pause,

He said, have a little faith in God above.
Have a little faith in the power of my love.
Have a little faith things will be okay,
My love will wash your imperfections away.
Have a little faith that God has a plan,
Have a little faith that he cares for man.
Eternal life is possible after death’s storm,
In God’s kingdom life is inviting and warm,
Your pain and sorrows have passed away,
Enter into his eternal rest this very day.
Because you trusted in God you now know,
He will continue to guide your eternal soul.
