It came to pass that a prince came from a far off place; The place of light, of goodness, and the abode of grace. Where the angels dwell and see the Ancient of Days, With love and holy awe they fill the air with praise. A warrior, friend, and savior to relieve the oppressed, His heart moved with pity and love to the distressed. In him was found no delay and no wavering choice, For his heart was moved with the far, distant voice. The voice that cried with painful gloom of a fallen race, That forsook their state of purity and fell under disgrace. For a simple test did the human family fail to obey, Over the choice of gain and want did they go astray. A people that chose upon themselves a tyrant and foe, The Evil One was his name who brought about this woe. So the angels wept and mourned over their plight, The race welcomed darkness over the sweet light. So it was that the prince cast off his royal robe and crown, And took the garb of humanity and the sacrificial gown, To stand and fight with his love and great purity, That by this action of love we were made a surety. A surety unto love, peace, and life without an end, With a love that we still have yet to comprehend. For this prince did more than just give up his life, He mended the wrongs that cause about much strife. He healed, nurtured, and loved with all his might; The prince tried to save as many with his good fight. He cried and pleaded over mans hopeless behalf, Only to hear great mockery and the evil laugh. Till his own that he loved, bitterly forsook and hung him, Hung between heaven and earth; was a sight all too grim. Innocent blood running from a sad and troubled brow, The prince compassionately stared at the people below. People cursed and desired his death with vehemence; Without thought that the prince was their only defense. Yet his love didn't fail him in his great time of trouble, For he saw his buried treasure among the dark stubble; The precious souls that he cared and longed for, And loves with a love greater than any can pour. So it happened long ago that he cried in his last breath, To his great father who accepted his sacrifice of death. The weight of terrible sin that pressed his soul, That was taking his life because it was the toll. "It is finished" said the prince as he bowed his head, The earth quaked, the rocks rent, and the sun fled. The angels cried at the lost of their beloved master, For who could have foreseen this terrible disaster? But this is the great lesson of love and sin, That made these great events to begin. The great I AM who hung lifeless on a cross, The prince that conquered and met no loss. |
