From the cradle to the grave,
We need God's loving hand,
For He's our Heavenly Father,
And He is in command,
And knows where we are going,
And what we want to be,
And knows our every heart-wish,
And He has eyes to see
The things that we are doing,
And ears to hear each prayer,
And heart to feel our longings,
And knows we need His care.
Created in His image,
Before our mortal birth,
We are His sons and daughters,
Of great eternal worth,
And in the realms eternal,
He taught us many things,
And shared His love with each of us,
His future queens and kings,
And heirs to all the Father has,
For all eternity,
If only we'll obey His will,
And serve Him faithfully.
He gave us our free agency,
And placed us here on earth,
So we could gain a body,
Through mortal human birth,
With parents and a family,
And the family of man,
With spirit that's eternal,
To here fulfill His plan,
Which is the plan of happiness,
He has for you and me,
To be His sons and daughters
For all eternity.
He will not force it on us,
For that is not His way,
But left it up to us to choose
To follow and obey
His teachings and commandments
While here upon the earth,
So we may gain salvation,
And great eternal worth,
The same as His Beloved Son
Whom He sent here to be
Our Savior, and our Mentor,
For all eternity.
He came to earth, a baby,
To learn the things we've learned,
And also gain a body,
And earn the things He earned,
By perfectly obeying
His Father's loving will,
And showed us by example,
The way to here fulfill
The Father's blest commandments,
In hopes we would obey,
And then He said, "Come Follow Me
And do the things I say."
He, too, endured temptation,
The same as you and me,
Yet chose to live God's teachings
For all eternity,
And yielded to His Father's will,
His noble work to do,
To help us gain salvation,
And exaltation, too,
By overcoming Satan's power,
And setting mankind free,
Free from chains of bondage,
To be all we can be.
Oh may we follow Jesus Christ,
And live His gospel, too,
And choose while here upon the earth,
God's noble work to do,
So when this life is over,
And all is said and done,
We'll live with Heavenly Father,
And His Beloved Son,
And with our friends and family,
And our posterity,
Sharing life and sharing love
For all eternity.
God help us to do so
