I once heard a man say,
"I'm ugly when I cry."
Is it because some say that real men don't cry?
I should hope that's not the case.
Is it because eyes become puffy
and skin shades to red?
Even when your face becomes distorted
beauty is not lost, but gained instead.
No matter the cause,
it's acceptable to show emotion.
Strong men don't bottle everything up,
they show the world how they feel.
Cry for the birth of a grandchild
or the death of a loving, caring wife.
Cry for the memories of the past
and for the things you see lying ahead.
Share grief with your friends,
those who have hit on hard times.
Share their pains and agonies
if that's all you have to give.
I've seen you cry so many times;
while hearing a stirring testimony
or a story of God's love.
When your heart was touched, you cried.
Oh, to be moved in such a way;
moved to cry tears because of God's works.
The tears are most beautiful
when they come through your faith.
You should never say again,
"I'm ugly when I cry."
Your crying is what makes you beautiful,
because it comes from your heart.
It reflects the love you feel
for your brothers and your God.
