A Manger Garden
by Dot McGinnis

I planted a garden with herbs galore,
Something I've never done before.

A manger garden, a glorious thing,
And every herb represents our King!

So get out your rakes and shovels and hoes,
And plant your garden in circles or rows.

If the weather's cold and starting to chill,
It can even be on your windowsill.

A window box will do just fine,
Pots or bowls or a manger of pine!

It matters not but for what it's worth,
The herbs you use should portray His birth.

Lavender, Rosemary, Pennyroyal, Rue,
Bedstraw, Santolina, Horehound too;

Sweet Woodruff, Thyme, Costmary,
Sage, Hyssop, their legends vary!

Each is unique in the tale they bring,
To the manger garden of our Newborn King!
