A Heart of Stone
by
Pearlie Duncan Walker

A heart of stone this cloudy day
Rotten to the core... all the way.
Selfishness and uncaring this soul sought,
Never knowing his soul was bought...
On a hill by the King of the Jews,
Given a great choice in life to choose....
The demons and all the angels of hell,
Or choose Jesus for the heart to dwell.
For, He is mighty, and powerful, and would
Give a heart full of love, not just for the good,
But, all who will come to Him and repent,
With anger gone, Gods love is sent...
Into the stony heart...melting it down
To a tear drop rather than a frown.
Full of happiness now instead...
Of living a life full of dread.
Lord take this soul and us it for Thy use.
May it never again use sin as an excuse.
But like the winnowing wind, doth blow...
Away the chaff, down to the Altar go.
