A Crown of Thorns
by
Pearlie Duncan Walker

Upon His head was worn; a crown of thorn.
It was destined by God since before He was born.
Our mighty Savior that bore the cross-, for all;
He was born, to a little virgin; in a Manger; in a stall.

He was born to die; He was Savior to each and all
By paying, for every sin; more than we can recall.
He wore a crown of thorn and knew from birth
His life's crown was a sacrifice; for man on earth.

How Holy His heart and soul; He only knew love.
He knew His Father was God in Heaven above.
He walked and taught the Gospel on earth;
Giving to all mankind, a chance; for a re-born birth.

In His last days on earth; He wore a crown;
This old crown brought blood, and pain; not a frown.
He went to the end, to mend all wrong and sin,
One day then; He will be coming again.

He will come back in a cloud; wearing a crown
He'll wear crown of majesty and grace coming down.
He'll not bleed this time; He'll be adorned,
Majestic is the crown of light; from which He was born.
