Animal and Nature

Mother Earth Woes
by Ashok Chakravarthy

I soak in blood
I soak in tears
Always getting soaked
With one or the other.
My children
Among themselves
Have become enemies
Fighting for supremacy
Keeping aloof
Basic morals and ethics.
Pain in my heart
Strain in my thoughts
Silently I undergo
The endless trauma,
An endless agony
Sowing seeds perhaps
For a silent death.
Ravaged and crushed
Yes, I too bleed
Cursing my own origin
Which I never thought
Provokes this thought.
Lo ! Sons of my soil
Let your inner-self
Peep into wisdom
To relieve me dear
From the multiplying agony.
