I WROTE A POEM TODAY
by Joseph kofi Gyanteh

I wrote a poem today
my adulterated thoughts penned on white paper
i changed the world today

wanted to write about love money
and all the things that makes the world go round
looked into my heart ,soul ,words that i found
orchestrated to the symphony of my own sound

should i write ?
a shakesperian or victorian?
a villanelle or sonnet?

....indecision...

but still i persisted to write
a masterpiece
something comparable to Allan Poe
as i sat bemused, proscratination my only foe

every phrase and stanza was not interpreted
the way it was intended.
so in the end what was read
was just words on paper
all the thoughts behind it ,dead.

i wrote it in 5 minutes
sitting on the sofa appreciating every word in it
but when finished could not decide a title to give it

untitled poems, like un-named children
bound to stray
several limerickes run thu my head,
but none so beffiting as
"i wrote a poem today"
