THE UNWRITTEN POEM
Claude Peter Dhuet

No words had ever been arranged-
Quite so meticulously -
As these words that filled his heart-
On this day that he was inspired.

"Perhaps soon, I will write them down-
I surely will remember them still-
For words like these are not forgotten-
When such joy in my soul they fill".

"Each word is etched so carefully-
Like a sculptor with chisel and hammer-
On the tablet of my mind-
They are chiseled in a similar manner".

Each verse was carefully chosen-
Arranged so that there was no doubt-
That each verse that followed the one before-
Would be in the most perfect spot.

Each rhyme was so inspiring-
It almost made him swoon-
He vowed that after this very day-
He must surely write them soon.

But the time we have left is not ours to claim-
Only God can determine that-
For from that very day, this unwritten poem-
Forever lost will it remain.
