What Winter is to Me
Claude Peter Dhuet

Skaters gliding on frozen lakes,
Trailing scarves of folds,
Wrapped snugly round their necks,
To buffer the winter’s cold.

Gaily laughing, filled with glee,
Displaying smiles for all to see,
Lines of skaters, holding hands.
Cavorting in winter’s, wonderland.

But this is all a dream to me,
For I abide next to, the open sea,
Where children trample, in the sand,
Carve moated castles, with their hand.

Where winter seldom, visits me,
Nor ice or snow, is mine to see,
But if you ask me where, I’d rather be,
I’ll answer quickly, its the sea.
