One of the dumbest things that you can do
Is follow a loser's steer,
Or heed an admonition of a person who
Himself can't see his own horizons clear.

But then again, it's just as perilous
To follow advice of optimistic fools,
Or those, who habitually querulous,
Would like to see you break unwritten rules.

And then, there are the ones who, steeped in ignorance,
And wishing not to show themselves as such,
Will give you pompous tips wrapped in grandiloquence
Which, in their essence, won't mean that much.

And then, there are well-meaning friends, who, being sappy,
Will give you input that is frivolous at best,
They'll swear that they just want to see you happy
But, in the end, they leave you unimpressed.

I've found that if I trust my own vision
And that small voice that lives inside my head,
I will , in time, arrive at a decision
That won't leave me broke or sick, or dead.
